Ask a Witch
Ask a Witch is a place to bring practical or theoretical questions about witchcraft and magical practice. You might want a second opinion on a spell or working, help thinking through symbolism, timing, correspondences, ritual design, or ethics, or simply want to explore a broader question about magic, spirituality, folklore, or the Craft. Whether you are new, experienced, or simply curious, you are welcome to ask. We do not pretend to have every answer, but sometimes a few experienced minds, different perspectives, and a thoughtful conversation can get much closer to one.
We welcome questions on a wide range of magical and spiritual topics, including:
• Second opinions on spells, workings, ritual design, or magical technique
• Questions about symbolism, timing, correspondences, divination, or spiritual experiences
• Broader questions about magical theory, ethics, folklore, and practice
• Help thinking through something unusual, confusing, or difficult to interpret
• Research direction or resource recommendations
Our responses draw on the collective experience, study, and different perspectives within the Coven. Depending on the question, that may include historical and folkloric sources, ritual and magical practice, divination, spirit work, or simply another practitioner’s experience. We will tell you when we are uncertain, and when something falls outside our knowledge, we would rather point you toward a better source than pretend otherwise.
Every question is read by a member of the Coven. We are a volunteer-run group, so replies may take time, and we cannot promise a detailed response to every submission. We do, however, read them all and answer when we believe we can genuinely help.

Questions We’re Often Asked
Will my question be private?
Your identifying information remains private. Within the Coven, we share your submission only with members involved in responding or supporting the work. We will only quote, summarize, or reference the substance of your question outside the Coven according to the permission you selected on the form. Choosing “No” does not affect whether we respond to your question.
Is Ask a Witch the same as a reading or working?
No. Ask a Witch is for advice, second opinions, interpretation, discussion, and help thinking through your own practice. A formal divination reading and magical work performed by the Coven are separate services. If either is what you are actually looking for, you can go directly to the appropriate request below.
Can I ask about someone else?
Yes. Many questions naturally involve partners, family, friends, conflict, shared spiritual experiences, or other people in our lives. We are happy to help you think through those situations. Our focus will usually stay with what you can reasonably understand, choose, influence, or respond to rather than pretending we can know another person’s private thoughts with certainty.
Questions involving influence, binding, attraction, baneful work, or other ethically complicated territory are not automatically off limits. We may, however, talk through consent, proportion, consequences, and alternatives as part of the answer.
Do you charge for answers?
No. There is no charge for Ask a Witch guidance. This is part of the educational, spiritual, and community work of My Cousin’s Coven. If something we offer is especially helpful and you would like to give something back, donations are always appreciated. They help us continue providing free guidance, resources, and support for others. Donations are never required and do not affect whether or how we respond.
Do you respond to every request?
We make every reasonable effort to respond to good-faith questions. Because we are volunteer-run, we sometimes have to prioritize requests according to urgency, complexity, and where we believe we can be most helpful. A situation involving immediate safety or serious concern may move ahead of a more general or theoretical question.
Discernment matters too. Sometimes the most responsible answer is magical or spiritual guidance; sometimes it is helping someone identify a safer, more practical, or more qualified source of support. We may also set boundaries or decline further engagement when a submission becomes abusive, threatening, deliberately disruptive, or seriously inappropriate.
How long will a response take?
We try to respond as promptly as we reasonably can, and many questions receive a fairly quick reply. There is no fixed turnaround time, however. Some questions need research, discussion among members, or simply more thought than others, and we may prioritize requests that appear especially urgent or important.
We are willing to help with urgent situations when we can, but Ask a Witch is not an emergency service. If something is truly time-sensitive or involves immediate safety, health, legal, or other serious concerns, use appropriate professional or emergency resources as well rather than waiting solely for our response.
What makes a question easier for you to answer?
Context helps. Tell us what you are trying to understand, what happened, what you have already tried or considered, and what part of the situation is still unclear. For a spell or working, include the intention, method, and result. For a theoretical question, tell us what led you to it.
You do not need to write an essay. One clear main question, with enough background for us to understand why you are asking it, is usually easiest for us to answer well.
